Description

Native to Turkey and Iran, Lamb's Ear or Stachys byzantina if you prefer latin, is very popular for its silvery-green woolly textured leaves which are soft, fuzzy and very tactile, hence the name Lamb's Ear! In summer, flower spikes emerge from the centre of the plant and produce small pink-purple flowers which provide a really pretty contrast to the leaves.

This evergreen carpeting perennial is a true sun lover and dislikes shade of any type. Lamb's Ear is best planted in a south facing position in any well-drained soil except clay, and is extremely hardy so adaptable to even exposed locations - as long as it has sunshine!

It grows to a maximum height of 50cm and 1m spread and is a delightful and unique plant.
