Description

Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Silver Queen' is also known as Tawhiwhi 'Silver Queen' in its native New Zealand home and features rounded, silver-green leaves with a creamy-white leaf margin. It also bears small, fragrant purple flowers in spring albeit sparsely. Although commonly grown as a decorative evergreen shrub, this variety of Pittosporum can also be used for hedging or even grown into a small tree, adding to its versatility.

Pittosporum 'Silver Queen' is tolerant of coastal conditions and is easy to grow in fertile, moist but well-drained, soil of any type except clay which is too heavy. This shrub is considered hardy but may need protection in cooler or more exposed areas, especially from cold, drying winds. To achieve the best leaf effect, we recommend planting Pittosporum in full sun or semi-shaded positions and in a fairly sheltered location.
