Description

Phormium 'Apricot Queen' commonly known as New Zealand Flax 'Apricot Queen', is a recent, colourful cultivar from New Zealand and is an evergreen, clumping, half-hardy shrub. Yellow leaves are edged striped dark green and red, turning more apricot coloured as they mature. An ideal plant for creating height and structure in the garden and particularly attractive as a stuning centrepiece combined with other softer planting.

This medium sized shrub prefers a sunny, fairly sheltered location but will tolerate some partial shade. It grows best in moist, well-drained soil of most types and needs watering well in summer. Whilst it is fairly hardy, it winters best in milder coastal areas and needs protection if over-wintering externally in other areas. In this respect, it is absolutely ideal for a coastal garden, but will also thrive in a sheltered spot in most gardens.

Plant either in containers or borders. Low maintenance plant.
