Description

Magnolia stellata, also called Star Magnolia, is a much loved deciduous, compact shrub with green leaves and silky buds which open into large, white, star-shaped and subtly scented flowers. A great slow-growing shrub that will flower from March to April when little else is flowering. It is an ideal magnolia for smaller gardens due to its compact size and slow growth, although will grow to a good height and spread over time if there is room to do so.

This small, bushy shrub requires a sunny location and moist, well-drained soil of most types. It is more on the delicate side though so must be protected from strong winds and is ideally to be planted in a sheltered spot

To maintain, simply remove any diseased or broken stems or any that are crossing, in mid-summer.
