Description
Echnacea purpurea 'Alba' is a variety of purple coneflower which is actually white! This deciduous perennial plant is clump forming and develops long stalks on which sit single flowers. Coneflowers usually have a large central yellow-green cone around which the petals emerge. Echinacea 'Alba' resembles a daisy-like flower but with gracefully drooping petals around the central cone.
This lovely calming perennial grows best in well-drained, fertile soil in full sun but can tolerate a little shade also. It is attractive to bees and butterflies as well as other pollinating insects.
In order to prolong blooming even into autumn, once individual flowers have faded, cut back the stems.
