Description
Cotinus 'Dusky Maiden', commonly known as Smokebush 'Dusky Maiden', is a hybrid variety of Smokebush, cultivated specially to create a a colourful but more compact Cotinus shrub. It has rounded deep green/blue/purple leaves with a wavy edge which turn a fiery vibrant orange-red red in autumn. The flowers in summer start off as tiny yellow blooms on deep pink stems and occasionally they produce silvery seedheads.
Cotinus 'Dusky Maiden' will do well in any soil if moist and well-drained and any location, preferring full sun or partial shade. It does however develop deeper and stronger colour if in sun.
This highly colourful smokebush will grow at a slow to average rate and reach around 2m high x 1.5m spread.
