What is a Box head Tree?

Box Head trees are specialist trees, grown with a clear, straight stem and topped with a foliage head in the shape of a box or cube. They are expertly trained and clipped over a number of years onto a cane framework to achieve the distinctive 'box head' shape. These unique trees certainly have the wow factor and are sure to draw the eye in whatever setting they are planted.

Species Information

With deeply veined, dark green foliage which turns brown in the winter and clings on to the branches, Hornbeam is great for difficult positions and poor soil. When used for Box Head Trees, Hornbeam lends itself to the task of pruning into blocks like no other. Because Hornbeam retains the majority of it's leaves during the winter, our Carpinus blocks retain their contours during the winter with their copper coloured leaves.

his tree has been pruned into a block with four equal sides of 100cm width and depth, and at a height of 120cm. By using Hornbeam, this box head tree has a compact branch structure which is well suited to pruning into straight edges and corners, emphasising the clear line structure of a garden at a natural height.

Delivery Information

Once an order has been placed, we will contact you to arrange delivery. Delivery of all pleached trees is via a large truck due to their size, shape and weight. Lifting equipment will be needed to help unload and move the trees.

They will be able to provide costs for smaller orders and advise on lorry type, access required and lifting equipment needed to help unload the trees. Free delivery applies on orders over £1500, otherwise standard charge of £450 applies.

Please note: We recommend that any moving or lifting equipment such as a forklift, is booked for a full day not part day, as we cannot guarantee what time the trees will arrive on site on the day of delivery.
